Help! My Laptop and copy of Bibleworks 10 were stolen last week

I pastor a small church and have relied on Bibleworks almost daily for the past 12 years like many of you do. Last Thursday, July 19, 2018, someone walked into the church office and stole my laptop computer and all my flash drives from my laptop carry case including the reinstall thumb drive for Bibleworks. I need some help. I bought Bibleworks 6.0 maybe 13 years ago about the time I left seminary, later I upgraded to 8.0 and then to 10.0. Everything I had was fully upgraded and up to date as of last week, but now I have nothing and seemingly no way to contact anyone at Bibleworks about it. If anyone knows how I can get a reinstall drive from the company please let me know. Even a way to contact them would really help. The website just has the letter saying they don't support the product anymore and the phone number refers everyone here. I left a voicemail for them despite the message that nobody would respond to it. Somehow I think they would help me out if they knew what happened, but I can't even let them know without a valid contact. I have filed a police report with the local police department so my situation is verifiable as well as the company surely having records of my past purchases and updating. The chance of getting anything that was stolen returned to me is very unlikely since it was probably just deleted in order to be sold. Even if this request can be passed to Bibleworks by any of you that would be great, I don't know if anyone can contact them or not. Any help would be really appreciated, I'm pretty badly handicapped for work without this program that I have used constantly for over a decade. Blessings ...

In Christ,

Pastor David Zimmermann

Dear Helpers,
I work with BW10.0.8.651.
Help file 75 Backup and Restore describes how to back up all important files. Unfortunately, I do not find the utility program as it is described. Is there another way to save all the current settings and load them into BW10 on another laptop?
Every answer helps
Sincerely Peter

Simple Linux Install Process

I followed a guide here posted by another user several years ago, and got hung up a few times.

I've written a simplified version that should be easy for anyone to follow, to install Bibleworks 10 on Linux.

The guide is here:

http://research.mattzab.com/2018/07/...ntu-linux.html

By the way, the question for registration "A row boat takes two ___ to move:." is kinda difficult. Took me like 10 signup tries to figure it out. Tried Google Searching, and found nothing but the bibleworks forum signup page. I thought it was tough.

Downloading BibleWorks 10 Installation Files (ISO file) - 22GB file tooooooo large

BibleWorks 10 Installation Files (ISO file)
(installation requires activation code purchased before July 1, 2018)
Version BW10rev6, posted 2018-07-16
File size: 22 GB (23,994,171,392 bytes)

Has anyone been able to download this file yet? I have been trying for two days but because of its huge size, 22GB, the downloads keep failing. The most recent attempt started last night and after about sixteen hours, it has stopped at 19.8GB. If anyone from BibleWorks is reading, PLEASE post this in multiple smaller files that can later be unzipped into a single file OR PLEASE make this installable using a few smaller files that interface with each other. 22GB is too large for a home network to handle.

Thank you,
Joe

Windows 10 Tablet Virtual Keyboard

Whenever I use Bibleworks 10 in tablet mode once I have used the command line to search the Tablet Virtual Keyboard pops up nearly every time I touch the Bibleworks interface thereafter. I am using a version installed from the ISO file and not from the original media as I managed to overwrite this by accident. Is anyone else having a similar problem or is it unique to me and maybe the latest ISO version? I was so maddened by it I reinstalled Windows which did not resolve the issue. The software is barely useable for me presently.

Every blessing,

Donald

BW10 seems frozen, can't do anything with it

Hi, I'm using BibleWorks 10.0.8.651 on Windows 10 Home. Windows 10 is running in a VirtualBox virtual machine within a Mac. I've had it running this way since the beginning of my using BW (maybe v. 9, IIRC).

Recently something happened with Windows (I don't really know what), and after that BW will launch as if everything is normal, and the cursor can be moved around the screen, but clicking will do nothing. E.g., if I put the cursor over a menu item, the item (say, "File") background is highlighted in gray. However, when I click it just turns back to a black background and nothing happens.

I had another program in Windows that also hung after some Windows glitch, and I ended up totally deleting it and reinstalling it via download.

However, now that BW is not exactly supported, I'm a bit afraid to just delete stuff. I have a thumb drive that is supposed to have BW10 on it (I put it on there on June 2, 2017). However, I just plugged the thumbdrive into my computer, and for whatever reason the computer doesn't even see the thumbdrive, so I guess the thumbdrive is dead. I also ordered a thumbdrive from BW in the closing days of the company, but it's in the USA and I'm overseas.

So, I'm wondering what would be my best next move.

Right now I'm downloading the 22GB .iso file linked on the BW homepage (https://www.bibleworks.com/). I don't know if it'll download successfully or not. I am doing it on the Mac side, since I try not to use much internet on the Windows side. I tried to use the Foxl download manager (free version) for Mac, but every link I tried to copy just downloaded some little file or failed completely.

If anyone has advice, I'd be most grateful. Lord willing, I'll be stateside briefly this year and will be able to pick up the thumbdrive I ordered from BW. But until then it'd sure be nice to have a working version of BW10.

Thanks!
Eric

Any Jesuits on this Forum?

I just wondered - the Wolfs in Sheep clothing seems to be everywhere these days leading people back to the Beast in Rome and the Great Whore of a City riding it.
Very few seems to know anything about the Black so called Pope, the General of the Jesuits.

People go google the Jesuit Oath and read it.

Torrent for BibleWorks10rev6.iso if anyone wants to try it out to get the 22 GB file.

Get a Torrent Client of some kind and download the torrent file or use the magnet link to add it into the Torrent program.
It may be easiest to just download the Torrent from my page after installing a Torrent client and it should automatically fix the file into the Torrent program if you double click the file.
I'm using https://transmissionbt.com/download/ but I am on linux, but there seems to be a windows version out as well but I have not tried it. It's very lightweight and to the point.

After installing a Torrent Client download and double click this one or open it:
www.JesusIsGodAlmighty.Life/BibleWorks10rev6.iso.torrent

This is a magnet link and can be used to copy paste it into the program and it should find it as well, but the above method is most likely the most fool proof method.
magnet:?xt=urn:btih:f5a0a14e43463611f7767e910d812f a9b5a7286d&dn=BibleWorks10rev6.iso

It should work and start downloading from me - but I have not done this much but it worked last time I did it with a friend sharing a file. :)

Il let the computer sit for those having trouble getting the 22 GB file down at least for some time. Let me know if you try and if it works or not.

In any case if possible, Bibleworks could try this possibility to save them self bandwidth and let others help on hosting there huge file - this could be one way of doing it.

Newbie question regarding English/Greek layout

Hi,

I am using Bibleworks 10 on an Apple MacBook. I am busy doing a Masters in Theology, New Testament, at the University of South Africa.

In the browse screen, it shows me a single verse, and the Greek text beneath it.

If I search for a pericope or a chapter, I get the whole section, and then underneath it, the Greek for the section.

Is there a way of setting it up so that for a portion, I see English verse, Greek text, next English verse, Greek text, etc, etc, etc?

Thanks in advance

Tim

Open Source BibleWorks

A lot of care and attention over the years has been put into BibleWorks. It has amazing features for those who are interested in using it. Is it possible that the source code for the program for BibleWorks could be released as an Open Source project and placed on GitHub for those interested in continuing the development? Is there any way that the original developers could please release the source code so that this project can live on in a new form?

It could then live on, updating via pull requests from the community of Christian scholars who have development skills. Fixes and adjustments could be made based on demand, and the project would take a new form that would likely be greater than any of the presently available Bible software. Security patches and new features could then continue to be added. BibleWorks as the name could be kept since it's a recognizable brand, or if it's under trademark it could be slightly modified such that everyone knows that it would be the new BibleWorks. BibleWorks in a free and open source form would become more powerful and rewarding than anything available. And it would likely outlive us so far as there's even just a small demand. De-monetization would significantly lower the barrier to entry, dramatically increasing demand from both scholars and the common person, and the common person using BibleHub or BibleGateway or whathaveyou would have an exceedingly powerful, overkill tool to use.

The proprietary content could still be monetized potentially, as add-ons or packages, or if the publishers are willing, released for free.

I'm willing to lend the wisdom / advice to get the project started on sure footing if so.

BDAG and HALOT from previous version

I was still on BW ver. 5 when they announced the end of the program. I obtained a copy of ver. 10 from one of the good members here.
I had BDAG and HALOT from the old version, but can't get the new version to recognize them. Entering the old codes isn't working.
Any ideas?

Hello all. When we received the termination notification I thought mention was made of releasing some sort of final version (although patches would continue for some time). Am I mis-recollecting that or did I miss the notice?

Thanks for any reply.

A Simple Way to Italicize Words for .txt Files Imported and Complied?

Example of Custom Version With Notes?

Can someone please provide an example for a .txt that includes how to use notes?

I am helping someone that has done a literal translation with foot notes. How would I include them?

e.g.

Mat 2:4. And having gathered All the high priests and scribes of the people, he was inquiring from them where the Christ is born1.

Note:

1. Literally, “begotten.”

Also, would the note numbers have to continue to increase throughout the whole NT?

What about hovering over the note number, how can you display tool tips?

Thank you.

Bibleworks 10 on a new PC computer

I bought a new HP laptop which will be my main computer now. I installed BW10 on it using the BW thumb drive and my license code. It loaded but when I opened it, I expected it to be inundated with updates from the last couple years. Nothing happened. I wasn't paying attention when I installed it; did it automatically look for updates on the internet from BW when I re-installed it? Or did it re-install the version of BW10 that originally came out two or so years ago? When I ask it to find updates, the screen appears which would normally include all the updates, but alas it's blank.

Also how do I get the books I bought for my BW such as the Qumran materials?
